Community Roots, Inc. is an ever-growing group of individuals who are dedicated to bringing about positive change through developing a productive self-sustaining organic farm in Volusia County, Florida. Our farm (6 acres) is located within the city limits of Lake Helen (pop 2,850) and is part of a 70 acre cattle pasture. Lake Helen is conveniently located 1 mile from Interstate 4 between Orlando and Daytona Beach. It is 35 miles Northeast of Orlando and 23 miles from Daytona and New Smyrna Beaches. There are well over a million people living within a 45 minute drive.
The farm will serve as an educational resource center by growing and providing fresh, local and organic vegetables, fruits, herbs, honey, and tender sprouts to be sold at reasonable prices. A portion will be donated to struggling families and local food pantries. It will also provide organic materials to support larger farming operations as well as the home gardener. Farming and gardening educational workshops will provide hands on training in how to start seeds, insect control, soil management, water catchment, composting and others. If you're interested in any aspect of what we're doing, in volunteering, or donating any farm-related equipment or supplies, please feel free to contact us at

The Volusia County Fair was such a hoot! What a week in the Ag Venture Village we were surrounded by goats and alpacas and the Marcan Tiger reserve! A special thanks to the volunteers who came out everyday, we clocked in 169 hours! We were out there representing the farm the entire time the rides we going. Sharing with everyone we could our mission, some pictures of past events and raffling off a 5x10 raised bed garden including two tomato plants. To be delivered and facilitated by our very own farmer Chris. The tickets were sold throughout each day and proved to be a success! The winner was chosen on Sunday the 15th and the winner was J. King!! Chris had a great delivery with the King family. The King's are so excited to of won and look forward to harvesting and gardening with their three children. Congratulations King Family and thank you for your support! We passed out over 400 flyers with our information on them and sold 287 tickets! Raising funds, awareness and coming together with all the other farmers in Florida was a great experience.
